We like to cook with the freshest ingredients and source herbs and seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden at The Old Rectory. The extensive gardens are a great place to relax or enjoy a game of tennis after classes.

Complete Cookery Course

This four week hands-on short cookery course covers key skills needed to become a competent cook. We will take you from basic cookery to advanced dishes using a wide range of skills. During the cookery course students will learn classic techniques as well as modern interpretations. We will show you time saving tips and hints that will enable you to prepare and present food to a high standard. At the end of the course you will have the confidence to tackle any recipe. If you want a career in catering or want to gain skills necessary to get a job in a gap year, then this course is for you.

Student Survival Cookery Course

If you are going off to university or leaving home for the first time, the thought of self-catering can be daunting. It doesn’t have to be. There is life beyond baked beans! Come and join us for 4 days of practical, hands on cooking. Learn how to prepare easy nutritious meals that will keep you healthy without breaking the bank. You will learn basic knife skills, how to shop wisely, food hygiene and safety in the kitchen.

Chalet Chef Cookery Course

If you are keen to spend a winter season in the mountains then the one week chalet chef cookery course is for you. This course will equip you with all the skills you need to cope with the challenging job of chalet chef. It is designed specifically for the requirements of the ski companies. We start from basic cookery techniques and progress through action packed practical sessions to more complex dishes with restaurant style presentation. With our experience, we will show you how to successfully run a chalet, leaving you plenty of time to take to the ski slopes. We have close links with major ski companies who like to visit during the course to meet and discuss employment opportunities with the students.
